Katie Crewe I'm sure many

I'm sure many of you have been asked a number of times what you're 'training for' at the gym. I never quite know how to answer this question and I feel like there is a weird sort of pressure to have a specific goal with a timeline or affiliate yourself with a specific group (bodybuilding, powerlifting, calisthenics, yoga, etc). Allow me to tell you a super fun story that happened while on vacation that really hit home the point that being fit can be a goal in and of itself and 'FO LIFE'' is a super legit answer.
While on vacation, four of us were walking on an unpaved road in basically complete darkness back to the hotel/mini resort we were staying at when 2 guys saw us on the road and saw an opportunity to get some 'free' phones and money...probably largely because there was a fairly small blonde girl in a dress and fancy flip flops (this guyyy). After some brief 'conversing', we sprinted away in what was the most intense HIIT interval of my life while they chased us up the steep slippery hill. In that moment, I most definitely did not care how visible my abs were or if my butt was one inch bigger than it was 3 months ago, I just cared that my go go gadget legs were driving me up the hill faster than those dudes (which they were. Holla). I have never been more grateful for being fit in my life. Time spent taking care of and bettering yourself isn't wasted time and if nothing else, future (healthier) you will thank you. Also, I've been 'strangely' more motivated to do my HIIT cardio since getting back. 'While you're sleeping, your muggers are training! Get some' πŸ˜œπŸ™ˆ

Katie Crewe Whaaaat? Grass and

Whaaaat? Grass and not a dirty cement balcony pic or my arms hanging things precariously over the edge of the railing?! Whose pic is dis? Psych! It's a dirty cement balcony with turf on it. There are also some plants and a bench πŸ™†πŸΌ. Legitimately surprised by just how much more pleasant it is to be out there now #hoorayforpretendnature. So today's post-leg day smoothie bowl was consumed outside 😊. Chocolate banana protein soft serve (1.5 frozen bananas, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1 scoop chocolate whey, 1 tbsp cocoa powder), topped with some fruit, chopped almonds, and chocolate sauce. So much volume, so much full. Ouff. Question of the day; who loses their appetite in the summer? A lot of people say this to me. Why can't this be my problem? I just think about ice cream about 3x as frequently.

Katie Crewe So yesterday my

So yesterday my birthday challenge was supposed to be 280 pushups and 280 burpees (28x10) but my legs had other plans after all of the squat volume I did Thursday. This is how you celebrate, meat head stylez. Soooo here's me going about my day and getting in those reps. I did 13 sets of 20 reps and 2 sets of 10 reps. Thanks for the love, friends! Y'all are the real MVPs πŸ’•

Katie Crewe Today I can

Today I can officially no longer pretend to be in my mid-20s 😒. Waiting for my maturity level and sense of humour to catch up...still seems to be regressing #28goingon8. I was going to post some epic dessert or cool workout but instead here is my face (much disappointment) and me saying how much I really do appreciate all of you wonderful people. I have met and connected with so many truly awesome and inspiring people that I never would have otherwise and I'm incredibly grateful. Whoooo would have thought taking pics of my pancakes (πŸ€”πŸ™Š) and secretive gym selfies would facilitate alla this 😝 #ewwwwsocheesy #imeanitdoe πŸ’•πŸ€—πŸ˜™

Katie Crewe I had some

I had some extra time to kill at the gym because I actually got there early (😱) and was waiting for a meeting sooo explosive push-ups were done. @alvaro_m1 has been pushing his 'dab' push-ups on everyone so I decided to put them in a series (I'm just jealous I didn't think of it first). 🎡Lean and dab🎡 I regret to inform you, the actual dance did not make it into the video #sorry?#yourewelcome?

Katie Crewe Well it's not

Well it's not #transformationtuesday or #thirstythursday...I mean #throwbackthursday 😜 but here I am anyway with some glooootes progress.
I'll readily admit that quite a lot of things 'come easily' to me and growing up, that wasn't necessarily a positive thing. Because I could do well at most things without having to work too hard for it, I quickly gave up when things weren't easy right away.
I think university was the first time I shaped up and realized what I could accomplish if I really applied myself (and it definitely showed in my grades). There's always that lingering fear that if you actually try, you'll fail. Inaction/avoidance is definitely the path of least resistance.
I'm naturally pretty small and was mocked for being weak so I had largely just accepted this was my lot in life. I was unhappy with this, however, so I finally decided to get uncomfortable and work for what I wanted. It's incredibly empowering to not only realize you have control over the appearance but also the strength and abilities of your physical body. Although the physical changes are great, proving that you can accomplish what you set your mind to is by far the most rewarding part.
Ouuufff some deep thoughts for a butt selfie, Katie. Get after it πŸ’ͺ🏻

Katie Crewe Today I squatted

Today I squatted 13,500 lbs 😜 (total volume: 135 lbs x10 sets x10 reps). Curse German volume training. Then I was out for a number of hours with only a sad baggie with 1/2 scoop of protein powder that was kicking around in my purse. Poor planning, kiddo #forshame. So when I came home, I decided I deserved waffles πŸ˜‹. Banana oat protein waffles with smores topping, because I can. My hangry self even measured in hopes they would turn out and I could share the recipe. Definitely shareable (recipe in comments). Goooo waffles! Waffles!
